Toli toli Kendari Volunteers Conservation Giant Clam Marine Park

Exploitation of marine biota and the current results were already over-not only by fishermen, but also by the fishing companies for various purposes. In Indonesia especially in kendari and konawe regency, South East sulawesi (Celebes), today his condition was very alarming, especially plants and coral reefs, including marine biota Giant Clam (Tridacna), are increasingly worried.

From several studies conducted in various places stating that Giant Clam (Tridacna) is the savior of the earth. Every single of the giant clam able to filter and clean of tons seawater per day from various types of particles. From the results of these filters, sea water becomes clean and then became auxiliary to the growth and maintain the color of coral reefs, fish and other marine biota. Unfortunately due to human activities, the Giant Clam (Tridacna) are now on the verge of extinction.

Now there are volunteers people from a small villages, name it Toli Toli Village, district Lalonggasumeeto, Konawe Regency, Kendari, South East Sulawesi, felt compelled to do something for the save of nature Conservation, particularly the marine environment and its contents, due to a sense of concern over the fact that there is; that some large marine biota has been on the verge of extinction, the government's efforts in tackling this problem is not maximized, even almost said no matter, the fact that there is, especially for the conservation of the Giant Clam.

The Conservation Giant Clam Marine Park begin build in January 1, 2010 and their volunteers team build in October 2009. Until this time the Conservation Giant Clam Marine Park have been successful collected and preserved as many as 8,150 Giant Clams from various Giant Clams species, such as Tridacna Gigas, Tridacna Derasa, Tridacna Squamosa, Tridacna Maxima, Tridacna Crocea, Tridacna Tevoroa, Tridacna Rosewate, Hippopus-Hippopus and Hippopus Porcellanus and live in the shallow sea to a depth of 20 meters.

 The Conservation Giant Clam Marine Parks has not only preserve and protect the Giant Clam but also preserve and protect other marine biota such as starfish, sea cucumbers, ornamental fish, lobster and many more. All of these marine biota was place it naturally in the sea cliff area and the sea mountain (rab) along the four miles in four villages, namely : Rapambinopaka Village, Nii - Tanasa Village, Toli-Toli Village and Wawobungi Village, with the center of concentration in the five sea mountain (rab) in the Nii - Tanasa Village and Toli Toli Village, Lalonggasumeeto district, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province, this place can be reach in 1 hour driver from the city of Kendari.
