Overview

Makassar City consist of several island which offers beautiful white sand beaches, those island is part of Spermonde Archipelago. The Spermonde Archipelago Islands gourps located at southern part of Makassar Strait, on the southwest coast of Sulawesi Island which is consist about 122 islands ranging from Takalar Regency to Mamuju.

The popular island that located at Makassar Strait is Samalona Island and Kodingareng Keke Island. Samalona Island is part of Makassar City located on the Makassar Strait, it can be reached by rides a boat in about 30 minutes from Makassar. The area of Samalona Island is about 2,34 ha in width which is consist of white sand beaches and reefs area.

Kodingareng Keke Island was elected preservation center because the island has the widest coral reefs which are still in a good condition. Kodingareng Keke Island located in Sub-District of Ujung Tanah, Makassar. The distance is about 8.37 miles or 13.48 kilometers from the coastal city of Makassar. Nowadays, this island is uninhabited (in previous time there are Dutch expat runs resort on this island). Kodingareng Keke Island is small and beautiful island, offer white sand beaches, clear crystal water, and surrounded by beautiful coral reef.

Itinerary

1 Day Makassar Island Tour (L)

Meet and greet in the morning at hotel, port or airport, then transfer to pier and by ride a boat cross to the island. First we will visit to Kodingareng Keke Island, the boat ride trip may take about 40 minute - 1 hour. Upon arrive at Kodingareng Keke Island, we will take our time to snorkeling, swim or Sunbathing. Afterwards continue to Samalona Island, upon arrive at Samalona, lunch with simple style on the beach, then continue snorkeling swim or Sunbathing. Afterwards back to Makassar and transfer back to the port, hotel or airport. End tour.

1 Day Makassar Island – Culture Tour (L)

Meet and greet in the morning at hotel, port or airport, then transfer to pier and by ride a boat cross to the island. The boat ride trip may take about 20 - 35 minute to Samalona Island or about 1 hour to Kodingareng Keke Island. The island trips also depend on weather, if we got good weather on the day of trip then we can directly heading to Kodingareng Keke Island and if it not we can stop at Samalona Island. Upon arrive at Samalona Island, prepared your snorkeling equipment then take your time to snorkeling around the island. Afterward lunch at the island with simple style and back to Makassar. Upon arrive at the pier, pick up and then tour to visit Fort Rotterdam which was built about 1545 under King Tunipallangga of Gowa. This Fort contains the La-Galigo Museum where you can find exhibits such as a model of the fort, ethnographic displays, musical instruments and heraldry and reconstructions of archaeological sites. Now it is famous as a cultural center. After that continue tour to visit old Port of Makassar, called Paotere, it is home to the handsome world- famous Phinisi Boats of Buginese - Makassarese Schooners, and daily life of Makassar fishermen's around port. Afterwards transfer back to the hotel, port or airport, end tour.
